Why do people want to be famous?

I really cannot see why people want to become really famous, the only reason I can think of is for the money.

I mean if you are famous you can't walk down the street without someone going OMG its so and so, and the newspapers and paps will follow you.

Is it a shallow life behind all the glitz and glamour or do they have too much money to even think about it.

Someone people want to be famous because it means they will have excelled in their field. So it's not just about attention-whoring, but being the best at their passion.

I wouldn't mind having a major part in a movie, or playing in a premiership football team, but unfortunately that comes with fame which is something you just have to deal with. I don't want to be famous, but I wouldn't say no to lots of money or the opening sentence.

Affirmation that they arent rubbish - Or at least the ability to make believe that people actually like them for themselves.

People who wish to be famous FOR something however most likely want to be seen as great/the best at singing/acting etc + the money and attention.

But doesn't that make it harder to trust them, especially in a long term relationship or marriage, maybe they want to go out with you only because you are rich and famous, then a few years down the line claim a divorce or whatever and take some money.

The part I would hate about fame is having to be perfect or you get jumped on. You no longer have your own opinion unless its very mild and wont upset anyone. Every part of you is disected and torn apart by the press etc. Want a drink? OMG alcoholic!! Like to smoke? Killing the children!!! Enjoy dating? MANWHORE!!!
