Considering a car change in March-April next year and looking to spend upto 45k

I've just been doing some research on the TTRS, and it seems like a decent piece of kit.

It seems the only real issue is that the Haldex is FWD biased, which leads to understeer - but seeing as Haldex is computer controlled, and you can already have haldex systems reprogrammed - I'm sure that needn't be a problem for too long.

However, once you have the remap and the haldex reprogrammed, whilst you have a very capable car, you'll likely have no warranty.

And I normally buy cars worth slightly less than the sum total of change you'd find in between the cushions of your sofa, that still doesn't stop me from finding a good 95% of VAG products uninspiring and a little bit boring.

That's not my point at all, my point is pushing for the most exotic car possible in his price range is asking for trouble because the more exotic the bigger the bills will be, and they will come.

Something stunning to look at, exciting to drive, not a depreciation bomb and with a warranty would be my advice.

I hear a lot of talk about "OPC" warranties. Where do you get these? Are OPC the company name specilaising in said warranties? A quick google turns up various threads where peole have major issues claiming anything on them.

OPC=Porsche main dealer.

I reckon its gotta be a Z06 - you've been umming and ahhring about one of these for some time now.

Plus I'd pay for you to come and give me a blat in it :D

Oh ok thanks guys. Seems people have issues claiming things on these? Would that be fair to say?

People only ever complain on the internet, I've had a few warranty repairs done over the years on cars but I've only ever posted about warranties on the internet when they've refused something. ;)

Some people get consumables mixed up with defects.

Iv never had one single problem in probably 15 claims over several cars with OPC, but you pay for that privilege with a high yearly cost and the need to subscribe to OPC **** take servicing charges.

However these days if i wanted a warranty on a Porsche my money would go on one of the service plans available from some good specialists. Probably Hartech in Bolton.

Gibbo - the C6 is 1928mm wide and 4460mm long.

The narrowest 997, the GT3, is 1770mm wide and 4435mm long.

So the C6 is about 15cm wider and 2.5cm longer than the smallest 997. Not the be all and end all - but it is a difference. The C6 is actually shorter than a lot of 997's and about 8cm wider than the widest 997......

Being LHD just means you have better visibility for the opposite corners than a right hooker :D :p

Never had a problem with Porsche, as Mark said it's a case of being aware what is and isn't covered and swallowing the costs.

I claim for everything possible so I can thrash the pants out of pre-booked courtesy cars :)

Thats your duty to thrash it, then my other favorite was to phone last knockings and tell them im in a meeting and cant break away so i need the car over night, that REALLY irritates them :)

Come on be honest who in their right mind is ever going to waste 45k or whatever they cost on a Vauxhall?

He might as well just give me his money if he's sick of it.

(or some other individuals who are not quite as well off)

Food for thought :p
