Why do people want to be famous?

Being famous does not necessarily mean someone is vying for attention. Simply put, being famous is a sign of success. That applies for all sectors such as cookery, entertainment, academic and so forth.

I think its more directed at the new breed of 'celebrities' who want to 'become famous'. its not like an actor who excells and becomes famous because of this, Its the Paris Hilton bred morons who just want fame no matter in what shape.

Celebrity these days is used too much from a blockbuster movie star to someone who shagged a footballer. Anyone who had their face on tv or had their name referenced to a current household name is then regarded as a celebrity. Its like fame aids.

I completely understand people wanting to excel in a field, politics, art, music, acting, business etc. If their aim is to excel at their chosen area, and further it in some way, then the recognition is well deserved. This is the type of fame that actually has an impact, and will be remembered for a long time to come.

I don't understand, nor do i have time for any of these 'celebs' that just want to be famous because of vanity, needing to be the center of attention, or just to live 'the high life'. Sure they might be noticed by people during their lifetime, and be well known during that period, but they're replaceable. New ones will pop up, and they will be forgotten and brushed under the carpet in due course.

Money will do for me tbh.

I would like to be famous aswell but only for something worthwhile.

I suppose it means everyone likes you and wants to know you regardless of how much a ****er you are.
