Considering a car change in March-April next year and looking to spend upto 45k

I've mentioned Haldex quite a bit in this thread, but from what i've read the 4th Gen Haldex system isnt actually that bad.

It can send from 0 up to 100 % of the drive to the rear if required, and it also has a neat little trick that it's more rear drive biased when in first, than in the other gears in order to aid traction on lift off. Its distributed by a hydraulic mutli disc clutch.

So allthough not quite up there with the systems in the latest STI / Evo its moved on from the old days.
I've never had any issues with Haldex. I quite liked what I had in my Leon.

A Dodge Viper,

Personally I would find a minter than mint GTS-R and not worry to much if the cars over 6 years old, condition is everything IMO.

I'l take your AM dials and raise you a start button!

Err, why are buttons for the Gearbox ON THE DASHBOARD!?

Did you have to press those every time you wanted to go through Park, Reserve, natural and Drive, or could you do it with the paddles?

Precisely! It's beyond stupid!

you can hit whichever one you like and it sorts it out, albeit slowly, think you can get neutral if you pull both together (might be getting confused with the fez though)

no idea.

Didnt even realise range rover used haldex !

Exactly. Because for some reason you talk about haldex as though its an OEM propriority technology rather than what it is. Its a company that casts big ally boxes and stuffs steel cogs into them to meet the customer requirments. The capabilty of a 'haldex' system can vary from Golf 4 motion to full fat range rover.

The veyron uses haldex, making it the best thing ever +1

2004 - Bugatti

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 with Haldex All-Wheel-Drive is now the fastest, most powerful, and most expensive street-legal full production car in the world, with a proven top speed of over 400 km/h (407.5 km/h or 253.2 mph).

I thought your guys were over exaggerating when you were talking about gear buttons earlier. That's just ridiculous.

You should have met a friend of mine who owned one! Late 30s......was quite something! :D

Sold it because she didn't feel she was doing it justice and was moving abroad. "I've only had it up to 180 three times this year".

-sighs-

Marry me :D

Picx......NAO

What much is blatently obvious from this thread, is that Gibbo should get the 'Vette;

I don't know why you keep stating it's too big, when in fact it's that that much bigger than the majority of cars out there, as mentioned it's only 4cm wider than a mondeo :o

Go on Gibbo, chop chop :D

Nope that is AM flagship car at its finest, the cutting edge, of breaking down!

3 times in one day.

It's bloody amazing if that is what floats your boat :p

On our brand new DBS, the door trim kept falling on me when I closed the door behind me....

Aston have a LONG way to go before I'll go there again. You couldn't give me one if it was out of warranty.

Did it just let go all of a sudden or did you notice the shifts were getting a little dodgy?

Also, running a car like that without a warranty? I thought you were cleverer than that Mark ;).
