Tommy Sheridan, the former leader of the Scottish Socialist party and MSP, has been found guilty of lying under oath when he won a £200,000 libel case against the News of the World. (The Grauniad)
What a pillock!

Still, with his particular interests, I expect he will enjoy his time in jail :D

It would be a nice idea if more lying politicians were to do time until they learned that it is not acceptable.

knowing our farce of a justice system it will probably be 5 times more than a murderer or a paedophile.

Always thought he had something wrong with him, no other explanation for some of his behaviour to be perfectly honest. Glad he's finally been found guilty, but I suspect he'll appeal if that's possible.

The idea of perjury,or 'lying under oath' made me think:
Why doesn't everyone who gets convicted of a crime in court, who swore blind that they didn't do it,get charged with perjury as well?

I think the sentence itself takes into account of this, i.e. those that admit crimes get off with lighter punishments.

I think perjury is a separate punishment for e.g. witnesses that have lied maybe?
