The modern twist appeals to the Harry Potter generation.

Hardly. I love the Harry Potter books and the films apart from Radcliffe. At 25 I'm arguably from that Harry Potter Generation with the first book being published when I was 12. In actuality I didn't read any of the books or see any of the films until I was 22.

The love for Dr Who just boggles my mind but then my love for Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Stargate etc equally boggles the minds of some Dr Who enthusiasts.

Uh, yeah it could be that, alternatively it could be due to bigger budgets, aims to appeal a wider audience, better technology and the fact the story lines of the old Doctor Who have no place in modern science fiction and were for the most part utterly ridiculous. They were making the best of what they had, they did a damn good job of it, but it was certainly not "better" and far from being more sophisticated or intelligent.

Very much looking forward to the next series, River Song and The Doctor investigating the "Silence" is supposedly the subject matter, along with Neil Gaimans episode.

Pertwee, Baker, Tennant, Smith, Davidson, Troughton, Eccleston, Hartnell, Baker 2, McCoy

I don't include McGann cuz I personally dont count the movies as being a real part of Dr Who.

Yeah, could be all you mentioned and that they 'were making the best of what they had' That puts me and my fond memories of the original Dr Who in their place.

Tom Baker was my Doctor when I was a kid but I love the new ones. I think Tennant is probably my favourite.

It doesn't boggle my mind as Firefly and BG are awesome. I've only had experience of the new Doctors and Tennant is my favourite though Smith is growing in me.

McGann has spent more time playing the Doctor in audio plays than most of the others did on screen, he's become very well established in the role and is well worth a listen.

I much preferred Chris Ecclestone to David Tennant and I feel it's a real shame that he didn't continue for more than one series as I thought he was settling in nicely and the character was starting to develop well.

The Boy is doing a good job, I'm looking forward to the next series. I think he's the most 'classic' of the 'new' Doctors, much more like the original series than either Ecclestone or Tennant.

Controversially, I really liked Colin Baker. He had that unpredictable eccentricity and you never really knew what was coming next, it was a shame that the costume designers gave him that nasty coat though.
