Considering a car change in March-April next year and looking to spend upto 45k

MikeHunt79, you can get RHD converted (properly) Corvettes in Australia. It's about the only place - although there are a few independant branches over here that convert them. They have to be RHD by law in Australia....

Like this one, for example (bit extreme but you get the idea):

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CORVETTE-CALL...1120733?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1c17f696dd

Gibbo, the owners on the CCCUK seem to average 20-25mpg out of a Z06 with a mix of hoonery and daily use. One guy got 34mpg cruising at 'motorway speeds' to Le Mans and back! I've never driven one though, only been in one, and don't know how they're working that out so you'll have to take it with a pinch of salt :D I'd probably work off an average of about 18.

225k he's on drugs that bloke :D

With the way I drive it would not be an average of 18. :p

Unless GM managed something really quite special with that 7.0l power house.....

gibbo, theres a video you posted a while ago, of a Zo6 that interupts somebodys street racing session. They race another car, beat it, then the Zo6 turns up. Wipes the floor with them, and sounds awesome in the process.

Be damned if i can find it thought, it was posted before your ban so may be gone from the internet now :(

10k fun car and 35k in property tbh.

I don't see the point in experiencing depreciation like that.... Make your money work for you!

Sorry I want to enjoy my car everyday. When I am older I might settle for a normal car day to day and having something for weekends when I want a rush but right now I now having fun everyday. :D

TT, really? take that dress off and shove on some man pants!

I'm off to cornwall for the winter but the keys to the Porsche are easily obtainable if you want to rag it a bit, it's sitting in chiswick Porsche looking sorry for itself, still perfectly drivable though.

let me know :)

What loan car did they give you in the end Will?

Cheers mate. :)

Out of interest how many you got in your secret hidden away garage? Or you got access to cars in the trade/for sale?

I just part exed that cheap 997 i had for this Bentley, but i can borrow one for you no problem if i havent bought another to sell on when your ready.

Saying that im having second thoughts about the whole car selling thing because my son is being an arse and really getting on my nerves now.

Also out of curiosity. ;)

I take if I did go Porsche your the man who can get one at a rather good price or at least point me in the direction of one heavily discounted from a dealership/trader you get on with?

Ok, here's my thoughts on your shortlist...

Audi TT-RS - It may be a capable car, especially after a few mods, but it lacks presence and style. It is, after all, just a tarted up TT and it seems a shame to spend that sort of money on something on a car from a lower league.

'vette - Yeah, so it looks fantastic, sounds great and so on, but a big LHD yank musclecar.... haven't you already done this? I know it's a step up from the 'stang, but it's not going to be a hugely different driving experience. If you loved the 'stang, then the vette is more of the same, with added everything.

Porka - as a very loose comparrison, I'd say this would be everything you liked about the CSL, but more. The handling, refinement, presence, sophistication... it's in a different league to the others.

I dunno, it's a tough call between the vette and the porka. I'd say the porka would be the next logical step for you, as I think it would be a more rewarding experience. My only concern would be that you said the CSL lacked poke. The porka is, on paper, a similar performer and I wonder if it would have the oomph that you need....

You dont want what i buy to sell because cheap isnt always best, but i will steer you to 2 people that will keep you right for the right money.

With these cars its just so vital to buy the best in the first place, its ****ing disheartening finding 2 months down the road it wants 2k worth of rads 2k worth of brakes and a grand set of tyres.

997 c2s Andy, its been mildly modified by a young girl :

- subtly resculpted power spoiler which is now on the **** and stuck at 30degrees!
- new 2010 peugot 206 remoulded arch and spoiler
- possible engine mods too, its lucky dip once the engine cover gets prised open

Gayman S Mark, but its a funky black/orange one, not using it though because I have to transport the world and his wife to Kernow so nicked a work barge.

Whatever made me think you had a Gayman? im losing the plot, this is what happens when i have a ballistic row with my bloody son in the morning.

Anyway Gibbo, thats better still, ignore the mods at the back of Wills one, they just add to the experience :)

Maybe it's just me i dunno! but i'm just happy with my £2000 fun cars that i sell a year later for no loss, and my investments.

:(

As much as I could, I don't think I could ever justify spending that amount of money on a car.

But thats like the pedants in GD that cry when people spend more than £30 on a watch, sure you can have something cheap and functional, but spend more and enjoy more :)
