Instead of giving money which is non descript and sometimes can be seen as a lack of originallity, if you know them well enough you can 'direct' your gift value.

Ie a music store or OcUK etc

I rarely use vouchers myself.

Yes but if you know them well enough to direct them to something, like a voucher for HMV then shouldn't you know them well enough to buy them a music CD they would like if you know they would like some music.
