What a great start to the christmas holidays. Earlier in the week I get 3 contracts for new mobile phones and this morning I get confirmation of the opening of a credit account with an online warehouse. I have contacted both parties to tell them these are fraudelent, but I am dreading whats going to land on my doorstep every morning now :mad:

So far there are no charges to my current account/credit cards and im about to contact them to inform them of my situation. Think its going to have to be a full set of new cards which will be a pain in the ass at this time of the year.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has had these experiences and can offer some advice. Thanks.
 
I had this happen to me about 3 years ago. Someone tried to buy an Audi S3 using my name, address etc. I only found out what was happening when they sent the credit insurance documents to my own address, not to the address the thief had given.

To be honest I had no idea who to contact in this instance. Obviously I called the people selling the car to 'me' they told me to speak to my bank, the bank told me I needed to call the police, the police told me to speak to my bank again.

That was 3 years ago so I am sure things have progressed since then. Special departments dealing with fraud.

I had to get whole new bank account setup, I signed up for Experian and checked every week to make sure no new credits were requested. There were about 8 things they'd applied for and I'd have not known for ages had it not been that paperwork for the credit insurance for the Audi.

It also made applying for credit harder as there were all these bad entries on there, even though they'd been marked as fraudulent. B***ardos !!
 
Been there, had that happen to me. Its a horrible horrible feeling. Was just my credit card with the bank. Somehow they also got my password and secret questions/answers for the telephone services as well. It has to have been an inside job in my case. Even I didn't know my password and secret stuff half of the time.
 
Hi I am Keltyx on my other account, it seems they have got hold of my email details and reset my password as well.
