Good day Forumers,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance:D

Ok, Im looking forward to buy a Mercedes Benz C Class. Not the new model, but the model before which got the headlamp like a peanut shape. There are few question that Im going to ask and what the differencea on every each type of C Class.

i) Classic-??
ii) Avantgarde-??
iii) Elegance- ??

and what is the 'Kompressor' , 'CDI' and sometimes i did saw 'CGI' ?

By the way, im looking for Petrol and automatic transmission.

Cheers all of you.

Kompressor means it has some sort of F/I doesn't it? Usually a supercharger?

Any reason why you specifically want that car as I've heard they were build at a bad time for Merc.

Take a look here and down the right hand since it shows you difference between Classic, Avantgarde and Elegance.

Fixed the link :)

Nothing bad about not being able to afford the current model, but the one you looking has a terrible reputation for reliability. Considered any of the alternatives like the BMW 3 series?

thanks for the link. it do help. BMW? hmm....if the car is mine then i would go for BMW. Its actually for my mother. plus, in my country, the price of Mercedes is very expensive.

may be i let you know the price comparison:-

pick an example:
UK- Mercedes C-Class C200K, year 2003 is around £5000. yeah?
Malaysia- Same car, same year is Malaysian Ringgit(MYR) 150,000

today currency: £1.00 equal to MYR5.00
so, MYR 150,000 divide by 5 = £30,000

Here in UK its only £5,000!!! my god.

Is there not some sort of import tax or something to stop you doing this?

I can understand you're looking to use the UK market to get your mum a cheaper car but is a £5000 7/8 year old Merc known for not being the best reliability wise to best option?

for any malaysian student studied abroad will get tax free from the government if they intended to bought a car from abroad.
7/8 years old car? hmm....thats what im thinking about too...arghhh.. i got stucked now..
very confusing..

Don't do it, they're not very good.

Classic = boggo spec
Elegance = some spec
Avantgarde = sporty spec

Get a BMW 3 Series instead :)
