Are we Hypocrits?

I'm Christian and also of course celebrate Christmas

In fact, I celebrate two Christmas days each year:
- 25th of December (According to Gregorian Calendar)
- 7th of January (According to Julian Calendar)

Well ITs a contirved nonsense that I feel compelled to do in order to keep up appearances.

Its expected.

I find it incredibly boring and uncomfortable and quite frankly I don't understand why we do it.

It serves no puprose other than to fuel the materialistic desires of the Homo Sapien mentailty.

lol, you find a happy time of year for many millions to be uncomfortable?? Why? jus because its a religious event for religious people? You do realise that its possible to enjoy events out side of religion due to them being adopted by social understanding\society?

Nope, not everyone who takes part is a hypocrit

Why?

Who is Real in all this?

Religion is man made and Christmas was invented for reasons to suit.

In fact,Is their a true meaning and definition to the whole thing?

No.People manifest their own ideologies around the whole concept to suit their needs and desires.

whether these be spirtual or Materialistic

You're an idiot who is barely making sense and has obviously indulged in a fair bit of brandy for somebody who doesn't like celebrating. Either that, or you find it near on impossible to formulate a decent argument. You're clearly trying to sound intelligent and falling flat on your face while doing so.

I imagine I speak for many people here who are not religious but enjoy the day for other reasons - seeing people, being sociable, eating nice food, drinking nice drink, and so on. Most people enjoy it, so we do it. If you don't enjoy it, you are the only one at fault for carrying on pretending to.

And yeah, Christmas ties in closely with the pagan winter solstice.. There are far more reasons for it being on the 25th December than just that though.

But where's the problem??

What is the point? Whether religion is real or not is not the matter of this debate. If there's a Christian, and they're celebrating Christmas, going to church etc, then they are celebrating the birthday of the person they believe to be the messiah. Nothing hypocritical about that at all.

Xmas is good for business.

I don't see anyone complaining about the bank holidays we get.

If xmas required us to make human sacrifice for Jesus, then it would be a whole different response.

I think what is more important, no one associates xmas with Jesus birth anymore.

Its just seen as a public holiday to give each other presents.

Couldn't give a **** if it makes me a hypocrite, I've had a nice day with the whole family and an awesome xmas meal, it's all i want from any xmas and i couldn't give a crap about what it really stands for or religion or if it makes me a hypocrite, and no one else should if they just want to enjoy it :)

Take it from me true Christiand don't celebrate it like the rest of us.

There is a clear dynamic and agenda.

The rest of us just "pretend"

Christmas causes more problems? Probably the materialistic side of things, yes, but I fail to see what other problems it causes
