Nothing is expected. Nobody is forcing to keep up appearances so you being a hypocrite to yourself. I presume that you are uncomfortable because you turn yourself into a miserable git when all around you are enjoying themselves.

You obviously do otherwise you wouldn't have made a thread and asked people to explain their rational on why they do or do not celebrate Christmas in what ever form that may be.


How does Christmas cause more problems in society exactly?

I'm happy most of the time


What I find strange is the fact you have to be happy on the 25th of DEC like a sheep.

If your not then you are percieved as an ass.

No I wanted to see if people would admit they were being hypocritcal celebrating christmas.

I don't care if it's contrived or not, I enjoy the holiday period and being with my family (well some of the time anyways ;))

I could easily take it or leave it though

I think most people are.


Same with easter being for everyone buying each other chocolate or valentines day or any other Public holiday.


Or La Tomatina in Valencia, it makes people happy and they enjoy them selfs.

Doesn't make you a hypocrite.

A hypocrite in my eyes would be lying to yourself about being a practicing Xian or Muslim.

But then doing the exact opposite such as drinking alcohol or eating pork, sex before marriage.

At the same time want to par take in the good times when presents are exchanged.(ie xmas)

Hypocrasy is being a JW, not being able to come to the christmas party, but accepting the christmas bonus with open arms. If the rest of his JW associates found out about this, would he be removed from the organisation?
