This is what I don't understand on this forum. People who hate religion seem to get a buzz from bashing religion. There are plenty of religious people here, but we don't see them doing the same back. Then, the religion bashers take a them and us approach, saying that theists have a hidden agenda! :o

Note that I'm not classifying these people under athiests. There are plenty of good athiests and thiests on this forum whom I enjoy hearing different viewpoints, but when the crowd of religious bashers such as rypt, come along, it really spoils the atmosphere of OcUK. Why do people enjoy being insulting because they're behind a computer screen?

Say you dislike religion or ask people to find out why they believe in religion, but don't just say... 'its a delusion for stupid people'. Did your parents never teach you about respect?

Now, this is the exact reason why I voted that moderation should be changed. rypt should have been dealt with by now.

I'm pretty sure you must have at some point posted in some conspiracy theory thread and taken the mickey ... so how is that any different to my posts on religion?

calling people or a group of people stupid for isn't taking the mickey though, it's insulting them, they maybe deluded but that doesn't make them stupid

Whilst it is pretty insulting calling every religious person stupid, I can't help but agree with this point. It seems that just because religions have a huge following, people aren't allowed to say a bad word about them, whereas when someone says they believe a conspiracy theory or that they believe in aliens, then you're quite freely allowed to take the ****. :confused:

Um what question? About respect? I respect people and they are free to hold whatever beliefs they want, but once those beliefs are public and in discussion then it is not disrespectful to point out that they believe in a fairy tale.
For instance, you meet someone and they say "oh by the way, did you know that Elvis is not dead ... he just went home (back to Mars)" ... now at this point, is it disrespectful to say "stop being an idiot, everyone knows that he's just dead"?


And I REALLY need to stop posting on religion in this thread before Gilly and Burnsy get upset :(

It was nominated for thread of the year on PH though lol, only reason I remembered about it .. and I never even posted a thing in that thread

But again, the point is ... PH was happy to let that thread run, so clearly it is not insulting to anyone

You're challenging him to find you being insulting and then questioning his primary socialisation and the way he was bought up?

The poll should be restarted and the title should be changed to better reflect the question asked.

I don't mind if my original post is changed by mods or deleted to reflect this.

As for twoblacklines, my attitude is to be respectful.

I don't claim to post the truth. I have discussions and refrain from making personal or mass insults to a particular group of people.

If I have stereotypes of prejudices against people I keep them to myself.

I don't go out of my way to offend and justify it with unicorns and elfs.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I like this place and some people are sick and tired of people not being respectful. If you read this thread you would see that some people have had bad experiences.

A lot of people participated and voted and have said some interesting things towards how moderation occurs here.

I feel that this thread should stop being derailed with cheap jibes at people and religious arguments.

If you want to have a religious argument than you can do so by making another thread in SC or GD if you want more trolling.


Edit: Some people here are not even participating constructively and would just like to **** stir or take someone side that is hell bound on causing trouble just so they can see some fireworks.

There is no evidence for god existing, there is no proposed scientific theory for god existing, there is ... nothing
In fact, all the evidence we have is that things did not occur as the bible lays out (ie god creating the world in 6 days + 1 day of rest)

As such my position is in fact FACT


You do not ask people to disprove something, you have to prove it instead. You do not disprove that air (or water, or fire, etc) is not an element, you have to prove that it is one
