bt infinity rollout suck

yep - the push back was done 2 weeks ago yet bt made no announcements about it! it's utter rubbish, I'm on the poplar exchange, it's been overcrowded for the last 5 years and the exchange overheats after 5pm. Yet for 5 years bt think 0.05kb is fine for zone 2 of the countries capital!

Whoever picked the rollout itinerary for this needs shooting.

Capital City (Cardiff), check.... good.
Every other random city and tin pot town in Wales, check.... WTF

I'm sure it's one elaborate conspiracy to make sure I don't see FTTC before I'm 50.

meh. i'd rather set my testicles on fire and then use a hammer to extinguish the flames than have BT as my isp again.

Thieves. I had to take them to the small claims court to get back money they took for a service they didn't provide. Hell would have to freeze over.

And their telephone pricing is deliberately over complicated and designed to deceive, unless you pay a year in advance  Good riddance to them.

Ah but its not. they have only covered 3 area's in cardiff. The Bay/City Center, Whitchurch and Llanedeyrn. Llanedeyrn is full of scumbag chavs that cannot afford Infinity, Whitchurch is full of old people that dont know what Infinity is and the only place in cardiff that people do probably subscribe to the service is the city centre/Bay which has very limited homes (All flats). So its not all go in Cardiff trust me.

Nothing BT does ever makes sense I can assure you of that. I ran a broadband campaign many years and can assure you BT don't have a clue what they are doing 99% of the time. You would think they would pick the biggest exchanges with the most amount of ppl connected first to roll out FTT to get a bigger customer base, but its not the case. Bearsted in Kent for example has it due for the 31/03/2011 with an exchange population of 5,780 residential premises which tbh is tiny. Look on a website called samknows and type in different exchanges, its quite an eye opener to see where is getting it first. Maybe it has more to do with key BT staff that can pull a few strings living in an area??. The exchange that serves my area has 23,612 residential premises and no FTT date is even available. BT management = headless chickens

I'm not saying BT are a dream, but most of the problems people have are with the retail side, the openreach engineer that installed my fttc was very friendly, helpfull and knowledgable.

There are many factors to consider when choosing who gets FTTC, the main one being financial viability. There's also planing permission, access to power, residents complaining about another green box being installed, physical location of the new fttc cab, the list goes on.

Those not getting FTTC now could get FTTP instead, while those with FTTC now won't see FTTP for a long time.

December may of been a bit ambitious, there have apparently been cab shortages from the supplyer in china and the weather has not helped.
Not every exchange will be completed ontime because of unforseen circumstances so that has a knock on effect.

BT retail is not perfect but the engineers on the ground are doing all they can.

Yeah I'm not having a pop at the BT engineers but the management side of BT is pretty usless and has been for many years, the company is too big and one department does not even have a clue what a different department is doing... arse and elbow spring to mind. I vowed to never use BT or its network again when I moved house and was able to get cable.
