Darksiders - Finally available on Steam in the UK - £5

it looks fine i was just wondering if there lower settings for people playing on cheap laptops or anything. It runs about 80FPS on my i5 with 460GTX.

So what happens if for example i was playing this on my rubbish HTPC with a Athlon X2 5000 and a 8600GT? Just lower the resolution and pray for the best? Seems odd
I agree, it did surprise me too when I fired up the pc version and all I could do was up the resolution.

My laptop is a quad core with mobility 4670 and it runs on that, though not amazingly well even at 720p.

Purchased as well.

£5 is a bargain... seen mate playing this at his house, and looked very arcade, ie not a game I usually play, so I bought it.

Whilst I was at it I got Batman as well.

Nope, that's all you get. It's essentially the 360 version at a much higher res.

The artstyle makes up for this somewhat, although it did take a while for it to grow on me.

Pff could have said. I like my pc graphic options at least antialising and AF options.

It's the most consoley console port I've seen in a long time.

You can't skip the intro logos (disabled them by renaming them)
It always shows xbox controller controls in the in-game help.
You have no graphic options apart from vsync and resolution.

Still, I was expecting that, so for a fiver it's worth getting, especially if you have a 360 controller.

For people using wireless 360 pads, is the game recognising it ok? Doesn't seem to pick mine up in the menu or ingame for some reason.

I actually can't play this game, the controls wont work, I'm using my keyboard/mouse and I just sit there getting battered not being able to move.

Wow honestly, what a waste of money.

Just finished having a little go. Gfx are nice gameplay isnt too complicated i suppose. Tho they powers screens i reckon i will grow to hate as their the same icon driven power screens a lot of games have which i loathe. Shame the volume knob on the g11 keyboard doesnt work ingame as it was frelling loud at half volume tried to adjust but couldnt so i lived with it as wasnt gona play for a long time.

I like the B button finishers but it will get boring doing it all the time so i reckon use it now and then only. The bosses are cool that destroyer thing i fought where you have to throw cars at (he is one big mother...) took awhile to kill him.

Im playing on easy cos i wana finish the game quickly i dont wana be dying a lot :p

I forced in nvidia panel aa to override to 4x and forced vsync on.

Not tried it without forcing AA but im hoping it worked. Still some alising going on but not too bad.

Edit - hmm looks jaggy in the pic, ingame it looked a lot better and smoother. Wonder why its jaggied in the pic.

Edit 2 - Hmm seems i need Nvidia Inspector (i know i aint heard of it either).

Brb will post screenie if it works.

Works but supersampling and 4x was a bit much as was slow. But 2x and multisampling isnt too bad and performance barely any diff to without.

I thought this game was about vampires as there was a similarly named film that came out about vampires a while back.

Im glad its not about vampires, Ill give it a look.

Are you thinking of Darkwatch? It had a wild west theme. I was kinda hoping it would turn out well, but inevitably it received pretty meh reviews.

Back on topic, have yet to DL/install this, but looking forward to it - haven't played this type of game in quite a few years. I have a wired X-box controller, but have yet to use it. Are they pretty much plug'n'play?

Bought this and having a blast on it. The game length is very good from what I've seen so far and some of the encounters, even on normal and even easy are very hard to get your head round and require hours of practise lol. Its such an unforgiving game on the boss fights as well as 1 major mistake with the controls can cost you most of your health if your really in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Some of the puzzles are some of the best I've seen in such a game also, with 2 of them in particular really stumping me for a good hour...

Well worth the £5

I wouldn't want to play this game without a pad.....although I have a pad and I still cant play it, because my ageing system is struggling to run it smoothly - Need to upgrade!

Put 13 hours this so far and still not cracked the single player storyline yet. Good length game which makes a refreshing change

how can people play for 13 hours already!

Skills!

As for the replay value, I'd say there is some due to the amount of secrets in the game which would require another going over most of the game with a fine tooth comb to find the legendary upgrades and the artifacts etc. Supposedly if you complete the abysal armour set before completing the game you get to keep that on your next play through, which makes having a serious attempt at the harder game modes abit more realistic I suppose.

No the movie was Daybreakers. Day/Dark, Breakers/Siders...I think I can be forgiven for this heinous error.

All I can say is that this game is amazing! The art style has grown on me, the overall visuals are nice and crisp and the voice acting (bar War himself) is perfect. I'm liking the story as well and I've come to appriciate quite a few of the characters too. It's a hack and slash at heart and that's all I expected but it's the story and the exploration that's setting it above others in the genre. Oh and the combat itself is pretty awesome :)
