i came late to 1366 from a q9550 775 and only noticed the difference when i went 64 bit and 6gb. i reckon i5 or i7 will be plenty for a while.

I hope so. I'm quite disappointed that they're retiring the 1156 after just a year. It just seems to be to screw all those that have actually bought into the platform.
I wouldn’t worry about that, Intel are known for slapping out top performing CPU's years before software devs make any use of the speed or the new tech they incorporate
Its all good having these super quick multi core CPU's but only a small percentage of home users will make use of them even if your are a PC gamer.
