A phone needed for the GF

Hi all,

My girlfriend is due for an upgrade this month and I'm a bit stuck on what to get her. Her main proviso is that it needs to have a keyboard and it must be a free handset on a £25ish tariff. The longer the battery lasts the better and a good camera would be a big bonus.

She mainly uses it for phone/sms and I'm not really sure what to recommend?

She currently has a sony ericsson of some sort.

Any pointers? :)
 
Depends is she looking for a bog standard phone but with the features you have stated.

Personally i would say if its another 18-24 month contract then i would say get
something that is going to last a while.

something like the HD Desire Z (i think thats the one lol)
Keyboard on it decent enough camera and good functionallity.

Depends if the mobile phone operator will give it your girlf-friend for free though
as it is an expensive phone.

Desire Z is probably the best phone with a keyboard you can get it for free on a £25 and 7 months half price on a 24 month with Orange if you go though mobiles.co.uk. If you want something smaller a SE Xperia X10 mini pro is an ok phone.

Id recommend having a look at the Blackberry range...especially the Curve 8900 which has a decent camera, 3.2 mp i think or if you want a better camera then perhaps the Bold 9780 which comes with a 5mp camera. Great devices for sms and come with a hardware QWERTY keyboard....battery life on BB's are superb.

Id agree with the Blackberry option or the X10 Mini Pro.
 
Thanks guys, she went for the x10 mini pro in the end. Seems pretty good and she likes it so far. Bit annoyed it's stuck at 1.6 with the **** vodaphone branding :(

Gutter, SE have just announced they are doing no more updates for the X10 series of phones so itll never see Froyo unfortunately. THey are nice phone as ive had a play with one, but id much rather have took a BB or a desire z over the mini.
