Is Santa a mini religion for kids?

Evidence based on faith is not evidence, evidence HAS to be based on science

Of course evidence doesnt have to be based in science, what a silly statement. You may not accept it as evidence but that means nothing to those that do.

Besides you stated there is plenty of evidence that God doesn't exist, as scientific evidence is all you accept, where is it?

Or do you just believe there is no God due to lack of scientific evidence, in other words a faith based position.

To be pedantic here. It is not scientific evidence, that doesn't however mean it isn't evidence. I have no scientific evidence that my wife or my daughter love me, however I certainly believe that they do and can produce evidence that they do.
You can apply scientific tests to your family loving you though

The problem you always seem to ignore is that science has no test for God and so therefore has nothing to say on the question of God. Stop trying to use science for something it isn't designed to do.
There is no reason why you cannot apply a scientific test to seeing if God exists though, the fact that is has not been done by the church is neither here nor there

In response to the op id say its more of a way of building up excitement and anticipation for kids. Rather than a way to control kids therefore i wouldnt really compare it to religion :)

What scientific tests can I perform to "prove" my family love me?

What scientific tests can the church perform that can test for God?

Surely if you know your god exists you cannot have faith and thus are doomed?

My point was that religious believers know that God is not pretend. No religious believer thinks they are pretending.

I didn't mean to imply that we "know" God exists.

I said there is no evidence that he does exist, in fact we have plenty of evidence that events did not unfold as in the bible, and that god does not exist

That's a substantive fallacy right off the bat there mate, not to mention you're begging the question.

I suppose that'd really depend on how you define knowledge too though, right?

After all, Descartes "knew" God existed...
