A few months ago i bought an 5670HD as a replacement card. I was using a CX400w psu. When powering games such as MW2 i kept getting a black screen for a few seconds and then it would go to my desktop with the message

"The drivers have stopped responding and have been recovered"

I read around and heard it was a power issue, so i bought a CX600w psu. Now the problem has gone with some games, it still consists in places. Such as Need for speed hot pursuit.

Is there any other cause for this problem as i believe 600w is enough to power any single GPU, or is it just a general driver issue with ATI cards?

600W is fine - no idea why that particular game gives you issues now.

Its not just NFS hot pursuit, other games will give it but generally take longer, maybe a few hours.

Im guessing its just general load on the card thats causing it. Ive monitored the temps of the card and even in a few hot room, never gets above 55c. (running it stock atm)

i had this error message with the early drivers for my 5970....have you got the latest 10.12 drivers downloaded and installed?

Yeah 10.12 is installed, had the same problem with all the drivers ive tryied, even the very old ones that came with the graphics card itself.

Did you use Driver sweeper to remove old driver? if there were even any that is.

I had problems with 10.12 causing UAC to run slow and a few driver crashes. Maybe try rolling back to 10.5, i did that with my 5970 and it runs perfect now :)

after a quick google seems like this card has issues......lots of others saying the same thing.....take it back if you can if not its maybe worth getting shot off

Thank you for all the replys guys.

I formatted not long ago so its not colliding with any old drivers. My cpu is also ok (Sorry for swearing) but cpu is stock atm. That again (e6850) never reaches 60c load.

As for taking it back, i am going to upgrade when sandy bridge is out so by time i get it back it'll be time to build my new system. Its just really annoying because i thought it was a problem with ATI drivers in general. This is my first ATI card and never had any problems similar with Nvidia.
