HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Just took the plunge and ordered one of these beauties to replace my beloved Hero. Should be with me on Friday. I'm all excited :)
 
Does anyone bother with a screen protector? Got one with my case today (Otter Series) and messed up the installation... So wondering if I should get another one?
 
Hmm, im pondering on the idea of selling mine, having two smartphones (iphone and a HTC desire HD).

Im just finding it hard to get the most out of having two.
 
I don't think I'll bother with one, never really had a problem with screen scratching. As long as you put it in a pocket on it's own it's all good.

On another note... Finally figured out how to stream videos from my NAS to the DHD today

I bought one and applied fine, gives a bit of piece of mind for a few pounds. My pouch hasn't arrived yet so it's the only form of protection it has. Got to say, I don't think it's required by any means but it worked so well on the first gen iPhone I owned - just made sense to do it again.

Which one did you get?
 
Me and the wife just got one each, t-mobile upgrade, unlimited text, unlimited Internet and 600 mins, phones were free and £30 each a month. Don't feel thats a bad deal tbh and is cheaper than my current tariff anyway.

I've just checked and there is a new OTA S/W update for the Desire hd - system update 1.72.405.3.R2 (40.79mb)

I'm updating now.

Yeah mate standard app. It's just done it again. I'm texting my mate and went back to browser, phone has stayed silent in hand. When I went to home screen just now Lp says I have one text.

I updated yesterday and all good, but have lost root access, reading the xda forums there appears to be no fix yet...... :(

As has been said, download a new one. HandcentSMS was one i used until it stopped sending texts without telling me, then batch sending them when the phone got restarted. Annoying to say the least, using ChompSMS now which seems a lot better :)
 
Who's good for phone insurance for high end devices like this? CPW wanted £14/month and £60 excess or something similar, which seems awful steep...
 
I'm with Lloyds Silver Current Account. £7.50 a month and you get phone insurance (any phone), travel insurance, AA cover and a few other bits and bobs. Well worth it when any of those three will cost in excess of that alone.
 
Hrm good call Russ-in-ating, I'll give Barclays a call tomorrow, see if they offer anything similar. Or Barclaycard...
 
If not, just sign up with Lloyds. I signed up for mobile insurance specifically and wasn't a previous customer. I don't use the account at all, just transfer the money required for the Silver Account via DD every month and that's it :).
