Quake Speedrun - 48m 100% on Nightmare

What the fudge!? That is insane!

Q1 was the first game I ever played multiplayer. My brother made a null modem cable!!

Great game, I still play it; have it on the netbook and have connectify installed so others can connect to it and do a little multiplayer ;) Hoping the Quake pack comes up for sale in the Steam sales soon.

even if he's not, what a sad guy.. .surely he's found other games to play instead of mastering this one so much he knows where everything is :/

Disagree with this sentiment. If he has chosen to hone his skills in a particular game because he has a natural talent for it, then good for him. Thats the whole point of specialisation isn't it?

Also who is to say that he hasn't found other game to play...

I only watched the first map but my jaw dropped whilst watching it

I was playing Quake 1 last week and even today it is a fantastic single player game, there is something oh so satisfying about taking down a Shambler with the regular shotgun :D

I remember watching this many years ago (though perhaps they have improved the times a little ;)) Back then was no youtube to watch it just a mod containing all the in game demos :) Tiny download compared to those high quality beasts! I still have my original quake install so qdq100 is probably still there!

And as for the kills there are many times were they simply get the monsters attention and it will attempt to path towards the player resulting in the player killing it much later perhaps during quad damage. I haven't watched this video but from memory I'm pretty sure you see evidence of this as early as e1m2.

lol at hes aimbotting .

this is why games now suck. you used to need 10 time the reaction skill than other shooters with auto aim.

this is why you take people on older games and they come up with comments like oh its crap and so on not basically they get ruined all day at it :D

125 fps or 250, 333 for sweetness :D but 333 does feel very spongy.

Used to play it over wireplay, cost afortune, but was just so awesome!

Long time ago I watched a speedrun of Quake, it was just amazing, I need to watch this one too. I can only imagine this one being as good as the other one.

Usually on speed runs lots of people purposelly slowed the game down so they could be very precise - I'm not saying it's happened here but it's one way of doing it.

Either way it's unbelievably quick and to know your way around every level is insane.

He is fantastic with that grenade launcher, when you think he hasnt killed some enemies he seems to randomly launch a grenade and then when you think about it you realise that that probably finished off the ones he missed.

I dont think they were using aimbot, just looks like they knew where the enemies would be and were pre-firing.

Not true, various games these days don't have auto aim and even if they do, they usually have an option to turn it off and shooters back then had auto aim as well which you could toggle on and off.

this tbh

e: also not all enemies killed; 9 mins in

Some highly uninformed opinons here:

OK first up it isn't a singlular sad 'guy'; QDQ is a long-term project (read: over 10 years, long before these new-fangled games like "Quake 3") involving many people. QDQ runs are typically the best-of-the-best, demos from multiple players spliced together (as different players are better at different levels).

Secondly, the level 9mins in is E1M7. Anyone who has played through Quake, heck, even the shareware version, knows that that on that level there is only one enemy you directly kill (via electric shock), the boss Chton. Once you kill him, a bunch of other enemies get automatically gibbed by the game (and that's the only way to kill them as they don't 'appear' until then. If you look, you can see (and hear) them getting gibbed at the intermission screen.

Come on then doubters, quote video times on all these other alleged 'non-kills', I'm still waiting.

i mean in comparision take cod 4 and cod 1

a lot of younger gamers wont of played cod 1 but think cod 4 owns but its a lot harder.

this is what im mean not actual auto aim.

the newer games of today have nab enabled. this is why you have hardcore and stupid perks and other idiot ideas cause people want easy crap and not a learning curve. this is why games are boring and get old quick now cause they taking the core gaming out of it.
