I have tried it a little bit so far, does anyone else get a lot of electronic hissing/buzzing from somewhere?

also i can't even see what hard drives i got, looked in device manager and hardware tab all i see is disk 0

Hi, posted a while ago regarding the stuttering I'm experiencing, and unfortunately it's still here.

Tried the solution offered on page 10, and hasn't worked, and it isn't just games I'm getting it in, it happens occasionally while doing general things like browsing the internet.

Plan to upgrade to a 7200rpm drive as soon as I get paid, just wondering if anyone else has something they recommend I try before buying?

EDIT: I forgot to add, found something pretty strange as a temporary solution. If I have an anti-virus scan running in the background, I do not get these stutters half as often, I have no idea why it does this, also tested with running defrag in the background and that helps to an extent also. No idea why this would be the case.

Laptop is raided to 0. To see your 2 hard drives or newly added. You need to set it to Normal. Go to your BIOS settings, you will see :)

The antivirus / defrag will keep the drives active and hence stop them from parking / unparking.

As for drives, go with a WD Black or a Seagate Momentus. I went for the Seagate but to be honest I wish I'd have gone with the WD, as the Seagates can be a little 'ticky' from time to time.

BTW guys there's a BIOS update out for the 660 now, doesn't look like it does anything major though.

I flashed the new BIOS when it was released and it hasn't changed anything. It's only made the cold BOOT issue I have even worse.

It that the issue where it cant find a bootable media or some crap? I get that from time to time. Think its to do with having the lan option in the boot list. I tried removing it and saving but it just comes back next boot.

Not really relevant to this page but just wanted to say I'm loving my new MSI 620 laptop. The chiclet keyboard is nice to type on and the laptops looks sweet!

i3 270
3 GB Ram
320GB hard disk

Thanks, I'll be changing the HD as soon as I get paid then. One more thing if you don't mind, is there anything else I need to know with regards to the HD? Just a standard laptop HD will work fine?

I only ask because I've never modified a laptop before, built plenty of desktops but when it comes to laptops I'm a total newcomer.

Thanks

I actually checked the bios after i asked the question, i have got the hitachi drives which i suppose is a good thing.

Do you get some electric noise if you listen near the keyboard? no idea what that is. Don't know if it's me or not either but using the touchpad seems fine sometimes and then it seems to just stop and go other times, maybe it's just me or the sensitivity.

Just need to find the damn setting to make the screen brighter/more vibrant now, seems like a good laptop though so far.

Steam crashed after i changed countries for dl speed and took ages to open but i think that's a steam problem.. more like steaming pile of **** :p

can this laptop have a 12.5 mm HDD installed? since the larger HDD for laptops seem to be 12.5mm as opposed to 9.5mm for the normal standard size

Ok, my first official whinge. The lappy won't detect my SSD in AHCI mode, only in IDE mode. Which kills the performance of it. I had a search on the internet and it looks like other people are having the same problem. So annoying.

I managed to source one of these for £913. When I factored the prospective price of the new model (£1300-1400) and my overall usage I felt this was the best choice. I've used it for a few hours and pretty impressed thus far.

A bigger screen could have been fitted due to all the excess border. Considering it is a 15" doing 1080p I'm quite impressed. Mine has come with the Hitachi's fitted. When they become annoying I'll upgrade, but they will do at present :)

I got mine in the end when it was £930 and i am very happy with it not to gloat but i have the hitachi drives and i havnt had one stutter in any game i have played re5 for a few hours l4d2 for over 8 hours metro 2033 that suprisinly runs very sweet ;) in all i am very happy with the laptop just the touchpad aint great but very rarely use it.
BTW does anyone know if i make a recovery disc with all the games installed does it make a backup with them installed or just the original settings out of the box cheers.
