NS1000 and Fiio E5?
and no batteries..and il be set for some nice quality sound? xD

thanks,

mm...i might think of getting a soundcard. but my motherboard already holds a wireless card in the PCI slot =/ and i only have 1 PCI slot =(

is there a sound card which could use other slots? other than replacing my wireless.

my motherboard is Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard

You can get PCI Express sound cards, such as the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme for example. How much would you be looking to spend on a card?

Or you could get a PCI Express wireless card, and the get a PCI Sound card, which would give you more choice in sound cards.

Well, I'll just mention that I think the treble and soundstage is slightly better on the NS1000s when using batteries, even with the FiiO. Wouldn't hurt to try it.

mm...i wasnt really gonna spend much on this. since my friend said its useless =/

but if i have money to spare then i might try it out. id spend like £20? on a soundcard probably

its gotta be a PCI express i guess...i dont think id wanna buy another wireless card =/ unless its better than mine (Edimax EW-7727In nMax 300Mbps)

slightly better? how better?

i really hate using batteries lol...because they always run out too quick and too bothersome to change them.

so how better are they with batteries, than to using the amp?

subtle?

lol.. sometimes i cant really understand what you say =/

u mean 'barely noticable'?

then i guess i could try it and see.

so theres nothing im missing? any bad things about the headphones i should know about?? any good things i should notice?

The main bad thing is a slight hiss when noise cancellation is active. The other bad thing is they are very difficult to drive (i.e. need an amp) when noise cancellation is inactive.

Other than that 10/10. The best price vs performance headphones I've tried. Out of several pairs of headphones I own they are the ones I would keep if forced to pick one.

No, the amp is used so that they can be used effectively with the ANR turned off. The ANR, or noise cancellation, if you like, uses the battery, and that is the only way it will work.

You can use them with the ANR off, and without an amp, but the sound is not as good as it is with an amp, or with the ANR turned on.

To summarise:

ANR on, no amp - needs batteries. Sounds pretty good out of most sources but hisses slightly.
ANR off, no amp - doesn't need batteries, usually sounds rubbish but dependent on amp circuit built into source.
ANR on, with amp - needs batteries, some amps designed for high impedance headphones give a slight improvement. Can sound superb but hisses slightly.
ANR off, with amp - doesn't need batteries, sound dependent on amp here. Some amps very poor but FiiO e5 does a decent job. Some suitable amps work better than E5.

Capiche?
