Hey Guys, the PC im thinking of buying has the following CPU cooler, Xigmatek Dark Knight CPU Cooler. Was wondering why this is no longer stocked at Overclockers considering they have it in one of their PCs. Please can someone set my mind at ease when buying the PC that this CPU Cooler is more than adequate.

the dark knight is ok, its just its a couple of years old now, so some sellers, dont sell it anymore and there are better air coolers available now.

if its on the pc already, then it will be ok for now, as it is better than a stock cooler, and is fine for light overclocking.
but if you are going to be doing some serious overclocking, then you might want to get a better one.
if its for sale at ocuk or anywhere else, it might be worth ringing them and asking to change the cooler, before buying

It's better than "ok" I've got that cooler not the dark knight version I got the original s1283 with the copper base. It keeps my 3.7Ghz overclock on my q9550 at mid 30's idle and high 50's load, never over 60c. thats not bad in my eyes.

I just retired my Xigmatek’s Dark Knight, due to upgrading to Noctua’s NH-D14 which is like moving from the Vauxhall conference league to the premiership. That said the Dark Knight is no slouch, strongly recommend it for overclocking up to 10%.

Well I ordered my machine "Cataclysm Hellscream" Intel Core i5 760 2.93GHz @ 4.00GHz DDR3 World Of Warcraft Limited Edition System from OC. I notice someone said earlier that the Dark Knight cooler was ok for light overclocking up to say 10%. Bearing in mind the CPU is OC'd to 4 GHZ, should i be looking to change the cooler as soon as possible or will it do a good job in this machine?

Check the temperatures first. I doubt they will be high enough to warrant a change in CPU cooler to be honest.

Remember that the airflow and cable management in your case will contribute a lot to temps as well. If your temps are quite high, you could improve cable management or add some more case fans.

Thanks, the case has to 120mm fans one front one back, as for the cable management, well its built by the OClockers team so that should be pretty good. But yeah i will run a temp check programme on the processor when its under a normal amount of stress. Anyone know what an acceptable temp for an overclocked to 4GHZ i5760 would be?
