Hey,
Ive just got my GTX 480 and ive installed. Im curious to however which slot would be best. I haven't put it in the top one ive put it in the one closest to the bottom. My mother board is Asus Cross hair 590 SLI. Will i still get the performance in the bottom one as to the top one?
I've put the card in the bottom one due to space issues in the case, but i can make it fit in the top one it'll just take a while to rearrange stuff.

It doesn't matter which slot you put your card in, you get performance out of either, people just put it in the top one for convenience.

What you really need to look at here, is in which slot will the card get better cooling? Also the convenience to you, you don't want the card too close to other cards in PCI slots ETC.

Also take into consideration cable management, regardless of which slot you have it in, you don't particularly want cables all over, so put it in the one which suits you best.

both sockets are x16 so there is no difference in performance.
You chose the right slot, which is away from your CPU.
As long as the fan isnt being blocked.

Cheers for your help fellas. I tried putting it in the other socket with everything rearranged. It still would fit, there was a component sticking up from the motherboard preventing the GPU to sit properly. I've put it back in the bottom one now, also stuck a side fan on to give it a bit more cooling as it just sits above my PSU.
Thanks anyway:)
