One good thing about ATI/AMD cards is that you can enable morphological AA in CCC. There's no other option to enable antialiasing in this game afaik.
Make sure that definition is on, you can easily see the difference by pressing "P" key in the game.
Shadows have a significant impact on performance with my card, lower Night Shadows and normal Shadows to High or Medium if you're experiencing low fps in game.
View Distance is a huge performance hog, this is the setting you want to fiddle with first. I don't think setting it to more than 50 is wise for most users.
Overclocking i5/i7s has no impact on this game. Dunno about older processors though.
It's mainly CPU dependent thus many users with i7s and lower end graphics card playing it at decent settings and experiencing smooth gameplay.
Vehicle Density does not have a huge impact on performance iirc, setting it too high will result in many vehicles on roads (surprise much?) and may affect the gameplay in a few missions.
If you guys have any tips, please post them here. This game never looks/runs as well as you'd like it to.
Some people buy games to play games. I don't see the point in owning a high-end system and not having anything to play. Some people buy games to support developers/PC gaming as well. Nothing wrong with that in the age of console gaming.

It needs a quad CPU *and* a decent GPU. Not either/or. It is CPU dependent on dual cores and GPU dependent on quads. Moving from a 9600GT to a GTS 250 massively improved my performance whereas overclocking my Q6600 makes no difference, the CPU usage % drops a little but FPS is barely changed.
Core i7 helps a lot here it utilises the extra cores

Are the Hitman games any good? I've heard of them but never played them! 
I love Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. Not sure whether you had to be there at the time. Probably plays like pants now.
