Well, after someone offered to buy the 416i of doom (lovingly known as the skip of doom, the shed, rotbox... etc) I got on the hunt for something a little more lively to replace it with.

So for £180, I give you...

It's a 1998 620ti, which has Tax and MOT. Aircon works, has a sunroof and a half leather interior! Also has the 4 electric windows plus a chavvy JVC stereo.

The 620ti has the 2 litre turbocharged Rover engine, running at 197bhp. This is fed through a 5 speed gearbox, with a TorSen LSD. Front wheel drive though. :(

Good bits:
- New gearbox selector rod, front brakes, oil and filter, etc
- Runs well, runs to full boost and shifts nicely!
- Comfy as hell
- Had a suspension refresh at some point, feels nice and tight
- All electrics work ( )

Bad bits:
- Downpipe blowing slightly
- Slight oil leak from cam cover, new seal is... £2.

Bit more of a bargain than my 400, comes with a Haynes and service history too. Sorted. :D

**** off away!

I've seriously lost count of how many times you've bought, sold and re-bought various Rover 400 and 600 series cars. Can we have a quick run-down please? :p

£180 isn't too bad for that, I suppose.

It's good for the money... and here we go:

- 416i, £600. Good runner, fancied a diesel.
- 420iXLD, £650. Nice car, but due to payrise fancied something quicker.
- 620ti, £900. Very nice, one of the last off the line. Everything worked fine, but got fed up of it breaking. :p
- MG ZS, £1800. Nice car, still own it. Managed to blow it up via 30psi of boost when my boost controller hose popped off. Currently fitting new head.
- 416i, £250. Rotbox, very reliable though. Used to plod about in, to and from work.
- 620ti, £180. Seems like a good buy... time will tell!

:) woop.

£180 doesn't even buy you a decent mobile phone, so for that money you can't really complain. Just hope it holds together :p

I was about to have a moan, but then I saw £180 and the fact that it is a Ti.

You can't argue with a 200BHP car for less than what some people spend on a night out :).

Surely if these Rovers were any good you would have bought one, thought 'Wow this is great' and therefore kept it?

The fact you've owned so many of them is surely testement to how totally crud they are and how they dont last 5 minutes?

I mean I love the E39, my level of E39 enthuasism is on a par with your Rover fanboyishness. So... I bought one, decided it was amazing and therefore didnt need to keep buying another to replace the previous

It'll be in the bin within 3 months.

Does it really matter?

It is effectively free motoring in a semi respectable, comfortable and relatively quick car. You could do worse.
