right, ive just tried to load up bc2 and it comes with "retrieving version information" then my screen goes white for like 3 seconds and puts me back to desktop?

what is the solution for this problem cause i seriously want to get back playing! D:

try booting the game making sure caps lock is off. Sometimes works.

On a more helpful note have you tried making sure your launching it with admin rights enabled? I've had a few games drop me back to desktop if this isn't right.

graphics card is the ati radeon hd 5700
and latest drivers. steam auto downloads them

Hi,

I had a problem with the retail disk, I had Samsung DVD-RW and for some reason the disk did not like that drive at all and would not load. It checked the disk and span up etc etc, sounds similar to your issue. Heck I even downloaded new firmware for the optical drive, still no result.

I have a solution, you may not like it but it worked for me.

Download the EA downloader prgram and use the code you had with the retail disk to use the digital edition. You will then have to download the game again and therefore eliminate the need for disk checking. It will just check for patches then only.

The digital edition works perfectly for me, and looks great. Your 5700 should be able to run it no problem.

I hope this solution can help.

Note the retail code does not work with Steam...

The disk sucks basically, I used the code, got digital edition at no extra cost just a large overnight download.

i was not aware that DRM had become that clever...I just think the retail edition disk is useless after trying it in 3 optical drives....

There seems to be some conflict with that disk from my experience.

I have a samsung dvd writer and for the first 6-12 months basically wouldn't work properly. After 12months its as reliable as the moon and i couldn't ask for a better drive. Bloody weird drive!

Same issue with my media as von. Also using a sammy DVD drive.

Ended up buying steam version with Vietnam for sanitys sake!
