Yet another spec me thread:

Hi all, got my latest adsense cheque :D and my budget is somewhere around the £450 mark and i need:

  • RAM
  • CPU
  • MOBO
  • PSU
  • GFX

The rig will be used primarily for gaming, after a long break i am once again completely addicted to PC gaming and my laptop is giving me a flop-on in that department. I'm sooOOoo out of touch, AMD where king when i built my last sytem.

cheers ;)

I wonder if Sandy Bridge will be in your budget, it launches in 8 days time.

I also remember when AMD was king, 939 + Opty 144 F.T.W :D

@stulid: like it a lot, very similar to what i have favoured whilst researching. the 460 seems like a great little graphics card. may cough up for 6gb ram tho. I hate having nerd lust... budget just keeps swelling.

gonna hold out and see how sandy bridge changes things. I had an Opty 144, loved it :P

thanks for taking the time to reply :)

A 6GB ram kit (3X 2GB) is for i7 systems with triple channel memory controllers, a i5 and AMD system will use dual channel kits (4GB or 8GB)
