have found this

needs to be black/brown to match everything else and will need to hold:

42" plasma
360
skyHD
bluray player
AV receiver

what do people have in their homes?

A lot of folk go to Ikea. The Benno, Besta, Bonde and Lack are regular favourites.

The web is crammed with all sorts of TV benches. Too many to get specific about, especially with no info from you on budget.

I think I have a black-brown Besta behind one of my sofas, it's a nice-looking unit, although perhaps a little bit too high for a TV for me.

budget is prob £200, i dont want some huge thing that takes over a wall, just a simple unit that holds all of the above.

I've an Ikea Lack TV bench in black ... think it gets it's name from the bottom shelf height as most av receivers won't fit in there hence modding it to free up the top shelf. Just make sure you double check sizes and don't forget to allow for some air around amps etc.

I would look at benches as they look so much better (imo) than cabinets. Or a bench for tv and an av rack for all your equipment?

The Walnut version is nice.

Plenty deep enough for even the big AV amps that most domestic units can't accommodate.

I'm looking for a new one too, but really can't find anything that's decent and/or the right size without being stupidly expensive.

As for Ikea, nothing there seems to have enough room for an AV Receiver and centre speaker.

Alpahson finewoods FW1350 will fit all your kit and can be got in a variety of colours. Slightly more than budget, but worth the extra if want something thats a bit more upmarket.

I just picked up one of these today

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/80133930

Currently has my 40" LCD sat on it (Being wall mounted tomorrow) and has PS3, Shuttle HTPC, Router, Wii and External Storage drives behind the 3 cupboard doors (They are not drawers in the middle). I took out one of the shelfs due to the height of the shuttle but you could easily store 3 of your devices inside the cupboards and possibly leave the amp on top to make cooling easier etc. Leaves loads of room for other stuff like DVD's etc in the 2 massive drawers on either side.

Best £199 spent on living room so far

That looks great, if a little expensive.

Anyone else got any other examples?

I have a couple of the Finewoods racks in the dark walnut wood colour (same as the 1350) but with the flat rather than curved sides. One is boxed as new, the other has been used once at an exhibition and then repacked.

Peter Tyson has the same for sale at £229. Mine would be considerably cheaper if you are interested.

Oh, and Middlewich to Stockport - 45 minutes :D
