Headphone extension lead

Hi all,

After a headphone extension lead, to run from my creative 2.1 system that is linked up to my PS3 to my creative fatality headphones (3.5mm)

There are a load on the web, don't want buy a cheap one and loose quality, volume, etc.

Any suggestions of make / model would be great.

Fisual 3m audio extension. Got some myself and at £5 it's a balance between good quality and affordable price.

I have a a fairly cheap one, 3 meters, gold plated and seems pretty well made ie better/slightly more rugged than the really cheap ones, it does me well. Think it was about 4-5 quid from a popular electronics shop.

I've had no issues personally, no quality loss or perceivable change in sound.

Just looking for the lead you have, coming in at around £20, maybe I'm looking in wrong place?

Would a headphone amp help aswell or would it not be needed?

Definitely, like I said it should be £5, it's the Fisual Install Series 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, if you search for that you should probably find the site I'm referring to.

Possibly, I don't have that headset so I can't actually comment but hopefully someone else here could tell you.

Hell no, you don't need an amp with those Creative's.

Found the extension now, just wondering with my headphone lead being 2.5M then adding 3M on it's going to be over 5.5M - Will that have a impact on quality? Signal strength?

Low impedance, easy to driver. I have this headset and its relatively low quality.

An amp would make it go louder though, if that's what you're after.

I have 3m on my DR150s and then another 3m on my extension and no issue.

I'll go for one then, should be ok. Tried one a few years back coming from a pc ( was a cheap non brand lead ) - the quality was awful and it was very crackily.

Yeh the really cheap ones can suffer from that due to build quality, but you dont need to spend much more to get something thats perfectly decent.

Fisual seem to get constant praise for being a good quality but cheap cable manufacturer, I've seen people with audio systems close to a grand recommend Fisual and my experience with them has been excellent also. Can't fault the price for the quality.

Well thanks for the recommendation, I would not mind paying more but there's not many around - was between this and a belkin one.

Bingo. An amp can be used to bring out extra detail. However, you can't bring out what isn't there.

Why is that thought ? Would that be down to the speakers outputting the sound from the ps3 or the headphones ?
