Hi guys ,
I am a new guy and i would like to know the benefits you get out of water cooling over air?

Also could you give me some links on a good starter kit if possible i would really appreciate it ..

Cheers,
Billy

The 2 main benefits are lower temps, which allows for higher voltages/overclocks, and noise level. Watercooling is generally much much quieter than air, especially when thinking about loud gpu's (ie, nvidia 470/480)

I'll let someone with more knowledge answer that one for you. Just remember that watercooling is not cheap, if you want to do it properly. I priced up a kit for my rig, and with full cover gpu blocks I was looking at £3-400

I assumed the OP was thinking more about a custom watercooling kit, but in a single bundle. I think swiftech and zalman do them? I wouldn't recommend the coolit or corsair water coolers over a good air cooler any day. Their only real benefit is for space limited cases, in my opinion.

Those are not watercooling, as the OP wants, those are basicly the same as top end air cooling..

Cyber we can't post links to kits, as they are not on OCuk shop, so its against the rules, if you set up your trust account, i can e-mail you links to cpu only setups that are about £120-130.

It gets very expensive when u go for top of the range everything.

I have setup the trust account now ..

Thanks bud

Sent u a link to a far better kit, then corsair/coolit..

Basicly low end water kit, but still proper water, so easy to learn with as it comes with everything, and will wipe the floor with those corsair/coolits.

As said above your going to achieve lower temperatures and lower noise with watercooling. My system stays on 24/7 and can be barely heard even at 2am in the morning.

The easiest kit for a begginer would consist of the following components.

XSPC Dual bay resevoir pump/combo
Waterblock of your choice. Providing it fits your socket you'll be fine as there isnt much performance difference between them.
Ek Coolerstream 240mm radiator
3 Meters 7/16" tubing
6 Ek 1/2" Hose tail barbs.
a couple of litres of distilled water
silver kill coil/mayhems biocide

You will need to google for the silver kill coil or mayhems biocide. Distilled water can be had from your local chemist. Last lot I bought cost me £3.50

The radiator may need to be changed depending on the case you plan on building in.

Indeed...a closed loop would be the best option for a beginner. Choose between the coolit line and the corsair hydro range.

I can't really see how a sealed kit is a good option for someone who wants to go onto 'proper' water cooling. It won't prepare you for any of the difficulties you will encounter when installing a custom loop such as filling and bleeding the loop, and as has already been mentioned the performance will be worse than good high end air.

Use compression fittings instead just as easy to use look far better. There's plenty of info on the net about water cooling, yes you can't beat the silence of a H2o loop, my DVD-RW is the loudest thing in my PC.
