Had a go at Macro (watch shots, 50mm with tubes)

Took some pics of my watches for the 'show us your watches' thread in GD, and was fairly pleased with how the B&W ones came out. Just a 50mm with a set of very cheap (£8) extension tubes I picked up ages ago:-

nice set of watches and the BW works well for the shots. That last one looks a bit odd with the mechanics below the glass being out of focus past the face. Was there any flash assist or just simply point and click at ambient light levels.

Got a link to the extension tubes?

It was an old Jessops deal, they were discontinuing them. Just checked my emails and it was actually £23 I paid for them which was still a bargain (£8 for something else I picked up). They are the same as the Kenko tubes that seem to go for ~£100 for a full set.

Was there any flash assist or just simply point and click at ambient light levels.

Had my 580 bouncing off a white ceiling to light.

Love 2 and 3, find the blur of the internals on 4 a little bit distracting but really like the composition of the shot.

And as Derek said, the BW conversion works well.
