I find London a complete **** hole, full of tramps everywhere, and the arrogance of the people that live there is a joke, so you fairies have the cheek to call us ******, Just lol.

Some of the things what I really think of London are not postable on here.

somebody asked why are northerners called ******

Conversely i asked why are southerns called monkeys / fairies

Answer ? because its just a phrase used to insult the other in the never ending war between war of words between north and sound :)

Taxis over here are pretty decent when it comes to pricing, £1.20 per mile with a few of the firms that i would regularly use.

£14 for three miles?

I paid £17 for a 12 mile taxi ride home on NYE ....that was with double time included.

edit: That was obviously with a private company....but who on earth jumps in a TOA without prior booking, anyway? You'd have to be mad to pay those prices.

Depends where you are getting taxis and what time of day. Price lists should be on the council websites, but only apply for certain distances and cabs you can flag down.

for example bristol

Hackney Carriage Fares

The council sets hackney carriage fares for journeys that take place entirely within the city boundary. A copy of the tariff of fares should be displayed within the vehicle.
For any journey within the city boundary drivers must use the taximeter fitted to the vehicle to calculate the fare. The amount shown on the meter is the maximum fare that can be charged.
The meter will show 0000(zero) when you enter the vehicle and the initial fare will show when the vehicle moves.
There will be no charge for assistance dogs for the disabled or the carriage of any other aid such as wheelchairs.
If your journey involves travelling outside the city boundary the driver is not required to use the meter, however the fare should be negotiated before the journey commences. If this is the case the driver must tell you the fare to be paid and provided you do not request any change to the journey en route this is the fare you should pay.
Should you not agree a fare with the driver then you are advised to find another licensed driver and vehicle and negotiate with them.

Private Hire Fares
When you book a journey with a private hire operator you are making an agreement with the operator to provide you with a vehicle and driver to take you on your journey. You will also be advised of the approximate cost of the journey.
Bristol City Council do not set these fares, some vehicles will have a taximeter fitted and some private hire operators set their meters to the fares set by the Council for hackney carriage vehicles.
You must make sure that you have enough money to pay for the journey or that you have made arrangements to pay for the journey with the operator.
