i7 950 - speed

Maybe i been stupid here but i bought this processor oc at 4ghz but in CPU-Z it reads the below

core speed - 2698.7mhz
multiplier - x12.0
Bus speed - 134.9mhz
qpi link - 2428.8 mhz

Is my processor running at 4 ghz?

Can someone tell me what this is all about? and exspain to me please

Assuming you bought an pre OC i7 bundle from here, you need to select that profile within the BIOS.

Currently your i7 is running at default settings.

Or you could have speedstep running, this will drop the multi at idle, try putting the system under load to see if the clockspeed shows as 4ghz.

I ran black ops in the back ground and the mulitpier did jump to 21. Does this mean it runs at 4ghz under load? and adjusts it self when needed?
