Perhaps 'whining' was a little strong a word for what you were saying. I was more talking about the general "omg, xxx weapon is for noobs" that we seem to see everywhere.
 
Hello, my brother just suggested I get this instead of COD/MOH. I can't really download the original+vietnam as I use a limited use wireless dongle but can buy the original on disc for £13. But I gather Vietnam is only available as a download and the original forces you to update to it automatically (2gb)?

Just wondering if in the short term, I can avoid the Vietnam download and if that is going to stop me playing single and multi player?

I can always take my PC to my parents next month or so to update to Vietnam with their fixed line broadband.
 
Do you know anyone who has it on steam?

If you get the steam version you could just copy it fro mthier pc/they can put it on disk for you

but no Vietnam is included in the patch.


If you want to play mp there's a lot top dl that';s not on the disk.
 
You may be able to avoid the update if you install and run the game with your internet connection disabled.

Personally I would still buy it on steam and see if you can get a friend to give you the steam files via usb/external hard drive. The single player isn't that great anyhow, and running the game via steam is much much easier than using ea/retail.

I am fairly sure that you would not be able to play online unless you have the latest patch.
 
I don't think you can class us running round trying to smoke an knife everyone (while rifle tries to hum ride of the Valkyries but it sounds suspiciously like happy birthday :o) as playing properly :P:D

I've spent the past week or so trying to get used to the m24 and I really can't. It's okay but I can never do amazingly with it. The M14 on the other hand seems to rock :)

It'll be interesting to have a match when we're both playing seriously sometime (bronken SQDM vs me, KeyboardCowboy, TomTron and Sickles or uv could be fun).
 
Tell a lie - I'm on 7 smoke kills.

Mostly from similar antics to those you guys do. We'll all load up with smoke and then annoy the hell out of everyone on the server. Good times <3 :p
 
I've got about 10-20 i think from the 1 and only time i've joined SQDM with you lot using em :p Was mostly using 40mm Shotgun today. Was funny in running into buildings full of smoke trying to find a guy and blast him before you could. And Midnight got me into a knifing spree which got me killed often :D

Wasn't the original problem with slug shotguns that they had zero bullet drop and zero damage drop off? So you could literally 1 shot kill people from any range as they have perfect accuracy when stood still (it seems). Then they fixed it and merely gave it damage drop off as i've seen it mentioned in several places that slugs have bullet drop when they clearly don't.

Shotguns are annoying but they aren't the problem. Its the ones who walk around with 40mm GL or Gustavs out who you have to hope have a crap reaction time or they kill you first or as you kill him. Seriously why the hell do unexploded GLs kill you instantly? **** realism, if someones shooting you at close range with 1 there should be a downside over taking the 40mm Shotgun.
