Where to eat and stay in Brighton

^^ not sure why?, it was very nice! good service, tasted very good, wasnt too busy, wasnt too expensive,

I think people just take issue with the fact that its got his name on it, or that they expect him to be serving you personally or something

Although cant beat pablo's for good value steak and chips haha

i always remember dining at a nice chinese buffet in brighton, although cant recall the name

Was probably Days, it's ok - plenty of choice and it's quite large, although they were shut down for enviromental health reasons a few months back :o. Back open now though.

It's hardly great cuisine though, moreso somewhere I'd meet friends for lunch.

Days is pretty cool, sooo much choice but as you say the quality isn't the best, it's just a buffet lunch type of place.

If you want chinese the Gars is usually a pretty good choice, it's just up the road from the mesmerist.

I have been advised to avoid his place.

+1 for mesmerists, it's the old new orleans and it's been done up very nicely, just round the corner from my work :D

Over-rated, over-priced, the main qualm was the portion size.

Jamie's is ok, despite the guy being a total codpiece.

The food is good but the portion size is on the small size. Don't get the smaller portion unless you literally want a rice-bowl sized portion.

Atmosphere is nice enough, but expect a 1-2 hour wait for a seat on fridays and saturdays. Weekdays you should be ok though. You can't book as far as I'm aware.

They aren't good neighbours though :p

Mesmerist is good but I've only had drinks in there - nice alternative atmosphere though.

Whereabouts do you work sp00n?

I went there with my mum, the food and service was great and it's not too pricey either. I had the burger (which was about 8oz) with polenta chips, mum had the slow roasted pork and we had a side of nacho's and I pretty stuffed by the end of it, and I'm not a light eater!

Fair enough, must have been a bad day when my work friends went there :D

Not really, I've eaten there regularly - probably about 15-20 times now, mainly to do with business, as we're located very close to them - it's not worth avoiding, just not worth visiting regularly for what it is. Your below comment is pretty accurate:

Middle Street :)

Have you moved jobs now? Weren't you based in Bugger's Hell before?

If you're going with that someone special, I can whole heartedly recommend the Drake's Hotel and their restaurant in the basement - The Gingerbread Man.

It's pricey, but had a great weekend there. Take full advantage of the bar staff as well, particularly if you're a whisky drinker. :)

She actually says "Don't spend that much, only need a bed, mirror and a can of deodorant!". Lol

But I don't want to sleep in a hole lol

I have looked into the Drakes hotel, for the price I think Hotel Una is better value. At least according to Trip Advisor.

There are some great bins behind Mc Donalds in London Road for a smashing stale snack. Not too many Pigeons. I recommend the old abandoned Casino in Queens road, there are few drunks and homeless there as they are scared of the ghosts.

Food for friends was great when i last spent a weekend in Brighton, its a vegetarian restaurant but dont let that put you off i am a carnivore and it was amaze
