Hey guys,

I've got an interview tomorrow for a PR firm working on the Home Entertainment department.

Anyway, I had an internship at the same company for a month and I'm pretty sure the majority of people will recognize me.

The office is very informal and laid back, people wear trainers and jeans etc.

Anyway, I got this e-mail:

Hi

We are recruiting for an admin assistant on the home entertainment team. This is an entry level role but involves working on Warner Bros DVDs and Universal Pictures.
I head up a team of four and have heard good things about you from xxxxx
Would you like to send me your CV?

Thanks

So I sent in my CV and have been asked to come in on the 6th. (not stating it was an interview) I replied asking if she wants anything me to bring along / be prepared with.

The reason I ask is because if the meeting consists of a formal interview, I would like to dress and plan accordingly.

To which they replied:

It is absolutely a formal interview but as you know with Premier it is a laid back culture too!

So, here's the question...taking into consideration I already worked there for a month and they approached me for the position / people there already recognise me, would you were a suit?

I was thinking of wearing suit trousers, shoes, a shirt and a very smart jacket. Would that be okay or do you think I should wear a full suit to be safe?

I honestly think people look like weirdo's when they were suits to job interviews, if it were for a big corporate office type job then yes but....

I've always got away with a smart shirt, smart black trousers and smart shoes.

Big corporate office type job? That's what this is, it's just an entry position though (which is understandable considering I've just graduated / am 21)

Shirt trousers shoes, and possible a nice v neck sweater :) you dont need a bloomin suit for that, slap a tie on underneath the jumper if youre worried.

Wear your coat as well....topnotch.

Golden rule of employment:

1) Always wear a suit to a job interview.
2) If in doubt of rule 1), wear a suit.
3) If attire for job interview is unspecified, see rule 1).

Without exception, without fail, every time.

Can't go wrong with the trousers, shirt + tie and shoes. Turning up in jeans and trainers might be considered underdressed, even if that's what they normally wear in the office.

Shirt, tie, trousers, shoes and smart coat/suit jacket. End of the day, I'd rather be over-dressed than under.

Plus, you could always see what everyone else looks like and take off tie/jacket accordingly.

Go a level above the normal attire. So shirt, trousers and shoes as a minimum. If you are worried, stick a tie on.

There's absolutely no way I'm turning up in jeans and trainers :p

The wearing a jumper over a shirt and tie combo is a very good suggestion actually!

You will act and feel more professional, just because you know it's a laid back dress code doesn't mean you should turn up underdressed, make an impression :)

That is not a "very smart jacket".

For that kind of job, I'd probably go for a suit but sans tie.

I'm not going to get into an argument with regards to what a smart jacket is on here. Going by some of the fashion thread on OCUK it's just not worth my time.

Shirt trousers, shoes for sure, jacket/suit jacket if you feel the need, but I wouldn't don a tie for the sake of feeling your have to, especially if you know them, they know you and you'll stand out as going a bit overboard if its just you..
