A little something for you aviator enthusiasts

Though I think the F-15 is a bit of a cold war relic, in those pics she does remind me why I loved her so much in my youth. Proper looking warplane.

As for the disappointed 'Aviator' fans... Will this help? :D

Do tell which of those planes isnt a cold war relic?

Even the Typhoon was an early 80's spec for an air dominance fighter to down waves of Russian Mig's that would come over from Eastern Europe in the opening stages of WW3.

Stunning photos though, loving the ones from above the planes - unusual angle for plane photos!

Are the F15 Eagles just American ones over here for some low level training or was this part of some ongoing wargames?

Wonder how the ageing Eagle handles things against the Typhoon... a dogfight well worth watching :p

Thanks for the referral!

In this one is a guy smiling for the camera ? (in the dome/bubble thing).

Maybe! The aircrew know photographers stake out the choke points in the valleys so will have a very good idea where we will be. Something as slow as a Herk would have plenty if time to spot someone.

It's not unusual to get thumbs up and waves (especially from Hawk back seaters). Sometimes they have spotted you, other times they will just give a wave on the off chance someone is there.

Without looking i would guess that all the F15's are UK Lakenheath based ones. They often go through phases of low level training however i'm lead to believe they don't go anywhere near as low as the RAF
