So, most of the populace went back to work today :o

Seemingly whenever there's a bit of a break or public holiday, something goes wrong, and you have to deal with it on the day back. Almost like someone is paid to come in after hours and balls it up for a laugh.

Today, I was greeted with our engineering manager asking for help with the wireless access point between two buildings, not working. Took an hour to fix and generally annoyed me because it involved messing about with all the routers, switches and network settings to get it working.

Last year the electric company dug up the road outside the factory and disrupted the supply meaning we had to go home.

Your turn..

I'm doing a database conversion for a client, and step one involves copying the data from (I kid you not) 2000 DVD's onto a NAS.

Before actually converting it...

That's exactly 29 days work if I sit at my desk all day every day looking at progress bars.

I went back to work yesterday. No balls up to speak of, really. Someone quit because they didn't think they were being paid enough, that was about it.

Worth buying a few extra dvd drives methinks?

Worst thing about work today... Not the fact Adapt went down, not the fact all laptops dropped off the domain, not the fact our dc wouldn't authenticate any VPN connections...

But the constant "How was your holiday?" "How was your new years?" "Enjoy Christmas?" "Do you alien IT people socialise?" Oh, hahhahaahah, I see what you did 'mate', you made a joke... I should laugh... haaahha

The same dull boring questions and the same fake smiles and interest from everyone each time you answer the stupid question. I my self am guilty, but simply because it is impolite to ask. I just hate office talk, it's 99% BS and 1% insanity...

I had 3 potends on the CNC to return which was a ballache, we were 2 rings short of the order and i took the last day off before the xmas hols so i didnt know that i had this to come back to, took most the morning getting 2 rings off the machine then had to set up for another job which is all well and good until you cant find the segments for the job :@ had to make some new ones and nip on the inside of the pot which always puts me on edge on big pots like the one today (24")

All fun and games :p but looking forward to a productive year :D

i wont go into too much detail but today was first day back to one office that has had a few workers in whilst they've been shut. fairly normal work except in the toilets as the mess has had a few weeks to harden and it ends up becoming like weetabix in a bowl, except this can't be cleaned off with a dishwasher or soaked in water for a few hours so the only option is to use a brush and a lot of scrubbing. thank god that's over with.

HAd two bad things happen to me today.

1. Waded through 432 emails.

2. Kept my NYR of no fry ups

No#2 was by far the most painful :(

Sodding Snow, so I walked out at 11 o'clock, might go back in Thursday but I really hate the place these days.
