hello there I have a quad core q6600 running at 3 ghtz at low volts and 4 gb of ram on a asus x48 motherboard, I currently have 2 3870 ati cards in crossfire but I feel they are starting to show there age and the terrible anti analising support is starting to show. I game at 1920 by 1080 on a samsung 32 inch led tv purchesed at x mas.The cards play games fine on my 20 inch dell at 1680 by 1050 but the resoluton jump on the new tv kills them in games like metro 2033 and gta 4 even world of warcraft with max details I get poor fps due to awful anti analising performance. Can you spec me a replacement gfx card / cards I have a corsair hx 620 power supply. so x fire /sli should not be a problem idealy buget would be 150 - 200.

I wouldn't have thought a jump from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080 would cause that much of a problem. For that increase in pixel count, the worst case I would expect to see is a drop to about 85% FPS, but it probably shouldn't even be that.

Anyway, this 470 is on this week offer, to bring it just into your budget range.

I would get this while it's on offer, great price and in most cases faster then the gtx 470 in gaming.

check what i mean by this review for the ati 6970, look at the benchmarks and see where the 470 and 5850 are in the frame rate race.

Most times it's faster in games and £53.01 cheaper... I wouldn't waste money and remember you are using a q6600 at 3ghz and the best cards at that sort of speed are the ati 5850 and the ati 5870 anything more powerful you will find you are wasting your money especially with the cpu bound games. Also they run cooler then the gtx 470's and less power hungry.. Remember when you check this review the performance per dollar is at RRP not with this price OCuk are offering it at.. So would you rather save £53 and get a free copy of Assassins Creed II and maybe lose 3-5 frames max in maybe 2-3 games and in rest of the games it beats it by a good few frames. Just have to check the review and decide what games you play more often, the 470 is a good card but too power hungry and hot for my liking. Also if you can wait a little and save another £27 I would get the Ati 6950 and unlock it to a ati 6970. Which is a great buy at that price too and you can take it later to a new system and x-fire it. They also run a bit hot so make sure you have good ventilation in the case.

why would you go for that 470?

Because it was on offer, and like a numpty, I completely forgot about the MSI 5850 that's 160 at the moment (funny especially since I have one). I'd definitely recommend that for the price.
