BattleField 3 will not support XP

If this game runs crap on anything other than 64-bit Windows running 6GB of RAM I will laugh. I don't think they can be that stupid - can they?

/waits for you to say that most gamers use 64-bit Windows and have 6GB+ nowadays

64bit OS don't have the 2GB per process (assuming it's a 64bit process obviously) limit either do they? I'd imagine it's that that would cause them an issue before needing over 4GB installed RAM.

regarding bc2- is there even any real difference in dx9 and dx11 ?

i would rather see companies taking advantage of a 64bit os myself than the fps slaughtering the latest dx has offered.

I would've thought 64bit and 3-4gb was a bit more reasonable to expect tbh. I know i have 4gb back home but i'm still not sure if its picking up more than 3, get the feeling i'll have to look into it and it might involve screwing with bios to get it working...

After all, RAM isn't that expensive and opting for a 32bit over a 64bit OS seems kinda pointless.

lol at all saying it will need 4 gb of ram living in cloud cuckoo land :D

they need to sell it too the masses you really think it will be this high ?

take a look at crysis that still has trouble being run now. it will be about the same spec as bfbc2 as it will use same engine tweaked.

ea and activision are about the dollar theres no way they going to price out 90 percent of the market.

x64 isn't some false or marginal upgrade. The benefits are clear. Each process can access more than 2GB of memory. Even BF2 was approaching 2GB im sure.

Got XP when i finally couldn't use 98 any more, but was not happy about it. Will get Windows 7 again when things start coming out that wont play on it. This will be the first game i see that is a reason to upgrade..... Still wont like it though i have used 7 a number of times now and i see no reason to consider it better other than going 64x will give me more ram to use (also do 3d modelling as a hobby so am looking forward to have 12 gigs of ram :D )

Can't believe people use XP still when 7 is about, it was never a great OS, even Vista was better (yes, I'm one of the few people that had no issues with Vista - aka I didn't blame everything on the OS itself, I used some common sense there) and 7 is even better than that.

xp uses far less memory for starters. For simple needs why would you change it.
I can get xp down to 100meg used where as all versions after start approaching 1gb quite easily.

thats what i do really but for me i finally got XP when i got a pentium 4 and noticed 'performance issues' (was on win ME at the time) :D

how do you get XP down to 100 mb :o do you have no virus checker/firewall/antispyware/hardware related apps?

but yes XP does use a lot less mem, my 'idle' memory usage is around 400 mb (with all the startup progs loaded that it)
