I keep hearing about how cool and quiet these cards are, but mine hits temps of 80-87c and the automatic fan runs at 37%, which I think is quite low. I enable the fan to 50% and then temps hit round about 60-70c. Still waiting on hopefully an aftermarket cooler. Do these temps seem right for for what it is?

Do people think its worth the bios flash to the 6970 aswell????

Thanks

I would say it is worth the bios flash yes from what I've read from happy 6950 owners.

Those temps are pretty much exactly the same as what I get(6970). Apparently nothing worth thinking about.

EDIT: When not gaming I leave fan on 35% and when gaming I play at 45% or 50% to keep the temps in the 70s

I have a 6950 flashed to the 6970 and in my opinion it's definately worth it.

Regarding temps, after flashing my temps idle at around 40 and peak at around 89 on auto fan. Don't worry about your temps as they are well within tolerance levels.

I was runnning a custom fan profile which dropped temps by about 5C but it wasn't worth it for the extra noise.

apparently you will notice fan noise when the fan speed exceeds 70%, however that's well tolerable in my opinion

You will definately more than hear it at that speed although I don't see why it would need to go that high!

I can just start to hear the fan on mine over my case fans at 45% and I have a 230mm fan on the side of my case which is pretty loud anyway.

Anything over 50% is too loud for me but I haven't seen it go that high on auto fan.
