ASRock P67 Transformer: P67 Gets LGA 1156 Compatibility

Seems like a poor business move. The board seems to have no market really or a limited one. It's almost as if its more to spite intel and show that it was possible and intel chose not to do it.

Asrock always do something like this but their motherboard always have some form of limitation. Such as limited new cpu, ram support later on.

Seems a little pointless. If you already have a 1156 cpu then you probably already have the board to go with it. USB3 and Sata 6Gbps are hardly worth changing your motherboard for when you can add them in anyway.

For those that aren't upgrading and are starting from fresh you would just go straight to sandy bridge. You wouldn't buy one of these and go for a 1st gen i5.

Looks more like a proof of concept board than a real attempt at any particular niche. Still, does this mean that the reverse may be possible with some clever future trickery?

Would be better if they could come out with a card which lets you stick a p67 chip into a p55 board.

It does expose intels less then honourbale practices when claiming incompatability though.

Also I may be reading this incorrectly but is the articale suggesting by the implementation of another clock generator on the mobo that this bypasses p67 bus overclocking? i.e. you can overclock the non K versions just using the bclk?
