If I was to replace a set of 225/40/18 tyres before they had worn out (due to wanting better standard tyres on the vehicle), is there any market to sell them on as part-worn? I'm guessing eBay might be an option since anything and everything seems to sell on there, but are there any other ways of getting a few quid back?

Cheers motors!

everything is worth something to someone, used tyres could be used for track day usage or spares etc..

ebay will probably be your best bet

They won't be naff, because I know the bloke, but they're nothing special either. It's more a case of whether they're worth more than £5 at the local karting track, or whether on some part-worn £70-£100 tyres if I could get a few quid more back to fund a full set of nice rubber :). They're Sunny's on the front and either Pirelli's or Bridgestone's on the rear (can't remember tbh, didn't note down as I intended to change them anyways).

In part worn tyres so naff that he got rid of them before they even needed replacing?

Whilst I am confident people will buy them I do hope people on here are slightly less cheapskate.

Whilst I only use premium brands, many folk don't. I've just shifted on 6 tyres to folk at work in the last month, just from people shifting their part-worn tyres on like the OP. You'd be surprised (or not!) at how many people don't give a **** about their rubber - only £££ matters to some.

Yea, whatever.

Don't want to get into arguments since I've not driven with different tyres yet so can't comment on how good/naff they are, but I've heard that they're fairly reasonable as "bog standard" tyres go. They're obviously not as good as CS3's, but they're half the price, so you get what you pay for. I'm sticking CS3's on though, just seeing if I can claw a few quid back in the process!

Has anyone else heard that 'Sunny' tyres are 'fairly reasonable'?

If they are good why replace them before they wear out..?

Simply because I'd rather have "excellent" than "reasonable" when driving my first performance car, particularly with road conditions like they have been...

Anyways, back on topic...

Would I want to buy a performance car from an owner who skimped on the most basics and bought Sunny tyres...

Can, worms, OH NO!

my mrs has a friend, who has a Porsche Carrera prob 10 years old, she buys part worns off ebay for it and got it serviced at quick fit, just before xmas it caught fire on the a3
I say that was serves you right for being tight, insurance wouldnt pay out due to mechanical failure, not sure what though! what goes around comes around!

Rubbish tyres caused the car to burst into flames?

Yes. Quite saleable, i don't think you'll have any problem shifting them though what you'll get is another matter!

Personally at the right price i'd rather have premium part-worns over new budget tyres, they'd probably last just as long. Specialist part worn tyre retailers know this and many charge stupid prices for them.
