Looking for somewhere to go on holiday this year. Around £1500-£2000 for two adults, one 5 year old and one 2 year old.

We went to Turkey last year which we loved.

Considering Tunisia and looking for some experiences.

Chances are we won't be leaving the hotel too much, but a few days out to water parks and the like might be nice.

Any other places people could recommend?

Thanks

Tunisia is OK, if you don't leave the hotel much like you intend to do. I didn't particularly like it as you are just constantly hassled by the people over there, especially if you are with a female. There are much better countries to visit with that budget in my opinion.

So why spend £2000?

Might as well just go to Centre Parcs.

Fox, thank you for your excellent input to my threads as per usual. Please troll another thread.

Thank you

Oh get over yourself. My point is quite valid - if you intend to stay in the hotel for most of the trip, then ask yourself if you need to go as far afield as Tunisia and spend as much as £2k.

You can probably get much the same experience for considerably less money with a shorter flight, if you fly at all.

Flying to another continent to then spend most of your time in the same hotel just strikes me as a waste of time, effort and money.

The weather is just one point.

Also the excitement for the children of flying and being in another country.

The reason we won't be leaving the hotel that much is because of the 2 year old.

Stop getting so defensive!

I'm suggesting you might look at alternatives not saying 'why stay in the hotel'. I bet you could get the same experience for a lot less money far closer to home.

Im willing to listen to recommendations of the other countries Justin :)

For adults with a couple of young kids, somewhere in Europe such as a Canary Island with plenty of things to do would be better, or even another area of Turkey as you said you loved it. Also Tunisia gets very hot too, something you should take into account when taking young kids abroad, especially young'uns.

I found that more to be the case with Egypt and Turkey than Tunisia (Justin).

I guess it varies depending on the area in which you stay. Turkey was awful for that too and I have heard Egypt is pretty bad, one of the reason I never want to go there.

Agreed. It's also full of French people. :(

I went to Hammamet in Tunisia back in May, Hotel was nice (Riu El Kebir) good food and drink, so much as set foot outside the hotel grounds and you are hounded every 30 seconds. The less said about my visit to Hammamet Market the better.

I wouldn't go again.

£1500-£2000 is a large budget for Tunisia. I went half board with my wife for £300 each including flights.
We staged between Port El-kantoui(sp) and Sousse. We enjoyed it, but if you don't plan on leaving the hotel you might as well go somewhere cheaper and closer to be honest.

OK sorry.

Could you recommend anywhere?

I'm not normally a fan but there are plenty of low cost all inclusive places in the likes of Spain, and you'll get the weather.

Having not travelled with young kids I can't really offer alternatives as I don't really know how or what is suitable for them, but as adults I found Tunisia wonderful, then again the Arab world for me is a joy - it does help that I speak french and a little arabic I guess. :)

I must say I do agree with Fox on this one, if you're not going to be leaving your hotel room much, go closer to home and/or a country where the culture may appeal more?

TBH Tunisia is basically europe, it's almost identical to southern Spain, except they speak French. By that I mean non touristy southern Spain, but then I've never been to the touristy part of Tunisia. I didn't get much hassle in Tunisia at all, but again I haven't been to a properly touristy part.

OP how about looking at a nice hotel in Italy or even Greece? Only reason I say that is because the hotels will probably be a little nicer (but more expensive), you won't get much/any hassling and you could probably find somewhere non touristy.

Go here

http://www.parquesantiago.com/eng/index.asp?secc=/inicio

Your kids will love it what with the mini kids water park on site at the hotel, the huge pools, mini golf courses and it being right on the beach.

Stay in Parque Santiago 3 if at all possible as its the main complex (all 3 complexes are next to each other but it means you have to cross a road all be it a quite one to get to the main pool/kids water park)

This hotel is also far enough away from the main english lads abroad area (where they filmed Tenerife uncovered) thats its within walking distance if you fancy exploring one afternoon, but far enough away that you don't really get the typical english lads abroad type tourists.

Also Tenerife has:

http://www.loroparque.com/en/index.asp

and

http://www.siampark.net/

Which are just a short car/slightly longer coach/bus journey away and are excellent for both adults and kids.

Last time we went they were also doing 1 euro pints in ice cold frosted glasses, which always went down a treat.

Good honest english food and drink here http://www.macksbartenerife.com/ if thats your thing also within walking distance of the hotel along the beach.
