What cheap, great sounding, weekend hobby car?

Cheap, great sounding, weekend car.

Forget BMW M's/AMG's/S/RS Audis.

Get your self a Civic Type R of some sort, even an Integra. Fun cars though, relatively cheap compared to the German cars.

As long as they sound ace and the women like the throb of the engine, then its all good with me.

No honest. You often say what I'm thinking on threads like this.

Nope he is a nerd look at all dem posts down with Fox and his fan boi BMW Mondeo club live at home renting posse he is allways wrong and negative and picks on people when they make decisions just because he doesnt agree wit dem.

Based on this (sorta), how about an older civic, which could accept (in the future, should funds/motivation take you) a B18 / K20 kinda thing. More of a hobby I guess, buys a cheaper car to start with too. Can me made to sound fantastic, in a 4cyl way.

This is all a bit of a minefield tbh...I get the whole "buy something in crap condition but do-uppable-in-the-future" lark, tried it myself yonks ago. Get to a point where you think it's not worth it though, and id bet a huge percentage of the time it isn't, financially.

A lot depends on:

The plan would be to slowly repair it and "do it up".

By that you mean yourself?

If that's the case, Honda Jazz with the K20A lump from the EP3 CTR. Now that would be a sleeper.

Naaah - get yourself a starter kit for a bike engined kit car and start building :). Should be done in 5 years (unless you're like me :()
