HD7000 Series rumoured this year

The 6*** series was always just going to be a stop gap before 28nm arrived so it's no surprise, though will be interesting to see if they release before the mid of the year.

It will be a low end part first if anything to work out the kinks of 28nm. It will be a further 4-6 months before the high end part is released, and maybe even longer if yields don't stabilise.

I fully expect Nvidia to do the same with Kepler, no way will they get stuck with the mess they got themselves in last time.

No suprise there seeing as the 6000 series was a stop-gap before 28nm.

I can see this happening... I'm guessing the high end parts will be out by Nov-Dec if the rumours are true.

Yeah the 28nm cards have been predicted for 2011 for some time, I personally wouldn't be suprised to see them delayed to early 2012 though. Really looking forward to these cards, 28nm should allow big performance increases with good temps and power consumption.

Darn it! I'm going to be getting a new gfx card every year at this rate! About to take the plunge with a 6950  (or should I say 6970 :D )

i took the plunge and went from a 5850 direct cu to a 5970 with accellero cooler fitted for less than i originally paid for the 5850, sold that for £140 too so in reality i paid £130 for the 5970?

i think it's not true... plus it's old news, November 4, 2010 ..

because there'll be no point amd doing a revision of the 69x0 if the 7000 series was coming.

i guess the 7000 series will be out in 2012 Q2~

I understood that there would no 28nm cards released next year, not because the cards won't be ready but because there is a delay in the manufacturing process. Some problem with TMSC or global foundries. I read it somewhere that these delays would mean cards wouldn't be released until 2012.

They still have to be competitive, so the 6 series is warranted. Don't forget that the cycles of products are not always linked.
