I caught it on-line at overclockers priced at £399

is that a joke?

Its priced at €300 in the EU but why was OCUK so expensive?

Yeah, i think a couple of people actually bought it as that price too LOL As im sure i seen instock status.

Well to be honest ocuk has made a lot from it. Harsh!

ocuk service is great but they do like to put premium prices on the latest tech in short supply...cant blame them really there a buisness at the end of the day

Well, you can. Do Tescos suddenly jack up the cost of produce if they've only got a few left in stock, or have had a small delivery?

I appreciate "supply and demand", but it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth that OCUK are so blatent about it. As the saying goes - you can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin it once.

These things being sold have an RRP, they're not limited edition or antiques. Sadly consumers are right at the bottom of the barrel as far as concerns go.

Then again it's tech stuff, not water or air. Doesn't make it less disappointing though.

If what gibbo wrote in another thread, or was it nath i cant remember but apparently theres only 2 in the country and the website showed ocuk had 1. If thats true then can you hardly blame them. People will pay the price. They are a business after all. If you were running a business and you had stock of a very limited (and desirable) product which you could make a bit of extra money on you would.

I agree 100%. But in my case I could not wait. I am waiting months to start my new build. Hope it will be worth it in the end

I know it wasn't really the point but using Tesco as an example of good business ethics is just plain madness.

I hadnt checked to see other prices, it is annoying but thats the price you pay if you want it as soon as its released. I checked a distributors website earlier today and they have stock of the board due in on the 17th and going by that price, the board should be a fair bit cheaper (atleast il be able to buy it a lot cheaper anyway

)

Well thats ok but there are many places that are doing them for £300 or £307 all in shipped. So £400 yeah big price to pay even if it has just been released. Abit of a big premium that one.

Look at it this way - this sort of behaviour makes OCUK money, right? So it helps them keep their other prices nice and low, right? So it's kind of like taxing the rich/stupid to feed the poor

Heres the funny thing with OCuk. You get a VERY marmite service. For example I ordered a 5870, same price as everyone else and saturday delivery the same price as conventional next day. Never had any issues very happy.

However some HDD's ive ordered which were used and failed straight away OCuk dont want to know. Ignored my emails to complain etc (The whole story is a whole can of worms). They did replace the failed one thoe.

So when I saw the the maximus appear at £399 I rang a distrubuter we deal with at work and they confirm they have them in stock and more coming into the country

. They cant explain why OCuk would sell for £399.
