Google street view is an amazing invention, you can see far-flung beautiful places without having to leave your chair, but every now and then, I like to have a look at completely random places to see what they're like.

It amazes me how many bleak, complete **** holes there are out there so I was wondering if anyone else fancied a bit of a competition to see who can find the biggest residential dump (cue everyone heading off to Detroit on Google Maps :p).

I'll kick off... I found this beauty this morning... The surrounding area has some nice-looking places but a random click into the city gives this:

Mmm... someone needs to discover what a bin is. :D (sorry for not posting screenie... I'm at work so can't upload to my webspace!)

That doesn’t look like much of a dump. It’s just got some rubbish on the side of the road.

Well a lot of that place got slapped by Katarina so not surprised there are some piles of rubbish, I have seen worse on the way to work

That looks like a rather nice place compared with some shanty towns. OP needs to search a little bit more.

I've seen plenty on my travels, but this was my "rough place" for today. :D

Looks a bit better than Jaywick, one of the most deprived places in the UK.

Lovely place! Although tbf the buildings don't all look like they're about to fall apart.

When I read the thread title from my netbook perched on my lap in the toilet, I was horrified!

Even though it's frosted glass I'll admit, I looked over my shoulder.

yup, there large swathes still unoccupied, people moved when it was hit and never moved back
